A Positive Voice For Our Schools
Dr. James Finlay was born in Denver, but came to Duarte at the age of 3. He attended Duarte schools (K-12), ultimately graduating from DHS in 1999. At this point he left the area for a decade for undergraduate studies at BYU (Biology major) then to Michigan State University to earn his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. Following graduation from MSU Dr. Finlay returned to the Duarte area to pursue residency training in Comparative Medicine and a PhD at the City of Hope and USC.
Dr. Finlay has been married to his college sweetheart since 2003 and they have three wonderful children. When the oldest was starting kindergarten it was a day full of memories as she started in the same classroom as her dad at Royal Oaks. From this time Dr. Finlay has been a dedicated advocate for the Duarte school system ultimately culminating to his appointment to the School Board in 2019. He considers it the privilege of a lifetime to be able to serve the whole Duarte community on the School Board as his grandfather did when Dr. Finlay attended Duarte High School.
